Purpose of the Position:

The Member Services Associate I acts as a vital link between the members and Meritus Credit Union. This role is crucial for delivering account-related information, conducting interviews, and facilitating the opening of new accounts while addressing the daily requirements of our members in a professional manner.

Position Specifications:

  1. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for engaging courteously and effectively with a diverse range of members and callers.
  2. Intermediate proficiency in mathematics is necessary, including the ability to work with decimals, percentages, and fractions.
  3. Experience in account management and consumer lending is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Represent Meritus Credit Union to members with professionalism, ensuring prompt, efficient, and accurate service during transaction processing.
  2. Provide both general and specific information regarding credit union services and policies, in person and via telephone.
  3. Address member inquiries, issues, and complaints, directing them to the appropriate personnel for specialized assistance when necessary. May assist with more complex inquiries from other Member Service Representatives.
  4. Facilitate the opening of new accounts and manage existing accounts, ensuring all necessary information for membership is provided.
  5. Process member requests for transfers, withdrawals, check requests, and other services as needed.
  6. Conduct orientation sessions to familiarize new members with credit union services and programs.
  7. Promote credit union products and services tailored to member needs identified during interviews, actively cross-selling offerings in person or by phone.
  8. Maintain comprehensive and current knowledge of all credit union products, services, policies, and regulations relevant to Member Service Representatives.
  9. Offer information on investment options for members interested in depositing funds with the credit union.
  10. Investigate discrepancies in accounts related to deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments.
  11. Assist members in reconciling their accounts.
  12. Support members in establishing individual retirement accounts and certificates.
  13. Process loan and credit card applications.
  14. Perform teller duties as required.
  15. Occasionally reach out to members regarding credit union promotions on products and services.
