As a Medical Imaging Specialist, you will conduct radiographic assessments on patients as directed by healthcare providers, adhering to established Radiology protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute standard radiological procedures with precision.
- Utilize technical expertise to ensure diagnostic quality of imaging studies based on established protocols and patient requirements.
- Prepare and position patients effectively for imaging procedures, providing essential education regarding the process and any specific instructions.
- Label all radiographic images in accordance with departmental standard operating procedures.
- Implement radiation safety measures, including collimation, to minimize exposure for patients and staff.
- Evaluate radiographs for technical quality and ensure timely transmission to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
- Maintain cleanliness of the radiology room and equipment, ensuring readiness for patient use.
- Manage supplies and accessories necessary for imaging tasks.
- Accurately document patient tracking information in the Radiology Information System (IDX).
- Schedule and complete exams in IDX promptly.
- Assist physicians directly as needed and perform clerical duties in the absence of support staff.
- Report equipment malfunctions or unsafe conditions to supervisors.
- Oversee radiology students assigned to your area.
- Adhere to infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infection.
- Participate in professional development and in-service training as required.
Applicants should possess an Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from a recognized institution, along with six months to one year of relevant experience or training. A valid license from the State of New York is required.
