Phlebotomist Job Description

Actalent is seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to join our team. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting and processing blood samples from patients in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and process blood samples from patients, ensuring accurate labeling and storage.
  • Explain the blood collection process to patients in a clear and courteous manner.
  • Use proper techniques for venipuncture and other specimen collection methods.
  • Understand and follow physicians' orders and laboratory protocols.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
  • Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature and protocols.
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
Requirements:
  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where employed.
  • Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2-4 years of experience.

Work Site: This is a fully on-site position in Largo, Florida.

Work Environment: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm.
