About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Director (Psychiatric Services) to join our team at the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional healthcare services for federal prisoners confined within a FBOP facility and/or provide consultative services via FBOP telehealth network.
  • Meet the health needs (both physical and/or mental) of the adults in custody assigned to your caseload.
  • Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and programs for patients suspected of having mental disorders.
  • Develop the master treatment plan and mental health component of the ambulatory treatment plan and subsequent reviews for patients under your care.
  • Prescribe medications to patients on your caseload, as well as write orders for special procedures (e.g., suicide precautions, seclusion, restraint).
Working with Our Team

As a Medical Director (Psychiatric Services), you will work closely with other members of the healthcare treatment team to ensure optimal mental health for adults in custody.

You will provide direction in achieving the psychological climate and environment conducive to the rehabilitation of the criminal offender.

Requirements

This position requires a strong background in psychiatry and experience working in a correctional setting.

You must be able to work effectively in a team environment and provide high-quality patient care.
