Position Overview

We are currently seeking skilled Pipefitters ranging from J1 to J4 levels to fill five available positions in our Pipe Shop located in Norfolk, Virginia.

Shift: All

Security Clearance: None Required

Key Responsibilities

The Pipefitters will be tasked with executing work in alignment with specified standards, ensuring safety, quality, and professionalism throughout all operations.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Dependable transportation.
  • Basic proficiency in measuring with a stick ruler.
  • Fundamental understanding of hand tools and testing apparatus.
  • Ability to perform tasks under general supervision and complete minor assignments.
  • Familiarity with various testing methods and managing obstructed flows.
  • Experience in installing different types of pipe hangers (Type 1 and Type 2).
  • Knowledge of torch safety protocols.
  • Basic understanding of blanking and tagging procedures.
  • Awareness of ship design and layout.
  • Familiarity with Work Authorization Forms (WAFs).
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and possession of competent person certifications.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to perform various physical tasks including lifting, walking, climbing, and working in confined spaces. Visual acuity and the ability to pass specific vision tests are also required.

Working Relationships

This role reports directly to the shop supervisor and fosters collaborative relationships with fellow Pipefitters, contributing to a cohesive team environment.

Accountability

Responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective completion of all assigned duties.

Additional Information

Regular attendance is essential, and the position may require weekend work or extended hours. Access to various work locations, including shipyards and vessels, is necessary.
