Sasha Bruce Youthwork, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining and controlling the General Ledger accounts, recording business transactions, and applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Responsibilities:- Assist the fiscal team with day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations of the Accounting/Finance Department.
- Process and record accounts payable transactions, ensuring accurate and timely payment of invoices and staff reimbursements.
- Manage cash receipts, recording revenue and receivables, and maintaining updated postings to the general ledger.
- Review and process credit card reports and receipts, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to Finance policies and procedures.
- Perform general ledger accounts analysis and certain general ledger account reconciliations.
- Process payroll, reconcile each pay period, and maintain close communication with HR to ensure accurate and complete information for quarterly and annual reports.
- Ensure accurate and complete information for 1099 reporting, vendor files, and contract submissions.
- Review and audit travel reimbursements to ensure adherence to SBY's travel and expense policy and procedures.
- Calculate and record monthly fringe benefit allocations and indirect cost allocations.
- Process monthly grant billings for grant-funded projects and reconcile quarterly payment systems to grant billings/reporting.
- Prepare periodic financial reports in compliance with grant requirements.
- Assist with SBY and individual program budget development.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Associates degree in Accounting with related experience required.
- 3-5 years of related accounting experience, with additional experience required if combined with Associates Degree. Non-profit accounting experience preferred.
- Demonstrated theoretical and practical knowledge of accounting concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Proficiency in using a personal computer, including knowledge and skill in the use of the Windows operating system and pertinent software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Abila/MIP software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Adept at efficient multi-tasking while maintaining a high-quality work product.
