Infection Preventionist Role at Cedar Crest Hospital and Residential Treatment Center

At Cedar Crest Hospital and Residential Treatment Center, we are seeking a highly skilled Infection Preventionist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of infection prevention and control across our facility.

Purpose and Scope:
The Infection Preventionist will be responsible for leading and coordinating our facility's infection prevention and control program. This will involve conducting ongoing surveillance of infections, gathering and interpreting data, and presenting infection reports to relevant committees and councils. You will also be responsible for inspecting the environment, monitoring compliance with facility policies and industry standards, and providing education and training to staff on infection prevention principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with infection prevention standards.
  • Provide education and training to staff on infection prevention principles and practices.
  • Investigate and report on infection incidents and outbreaks.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement infection prevention strategies.
  • Monitor and analyze infection data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders to ensure best practices in infection prevention.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, medical technology, microbiology, or epidemiology required.
  • One or more years' experience in infection control preferred.
  • Working knowledge of agents which cause disease, reservoir, knowledge of spectrum of disease, disease carriers, modes of transportation, host factors that enhance susceptibility, colonization of infection and approach to control infection required.
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of epidemiology and the infectious disease process required.
  • Certification by the Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology preferred.
