JOB TITLE: VISUAL ARTS EDUCATOR, GRADES K-8 (Anticipated Opening)

JOB SUMMARY: The ideal candidate will deliver comprehensive instruction in various artistic disciplines, including painting, drawing, design, and sculpture, utilizing diverse media to foster creative expression. The visual arts educator will incorporate elements of science, social studies, mathematics, and language arts into the art curriculum. Students will engage with a range of techniques, materials, and skills to enhance their artistic capabilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid teaching certification for grades K-12 is required; additional credentials in core subjects are preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, fulfilling all credentialing requirements.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within educational teams.
  • Positive recommendations from student teaching supervisors and other educational professionals.
  • Proficient written communication skills.
  • Submission of a portfolio showcasing artistic talent is required.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Designs lesson plans and sets educational objectives aligned with district curriculum and state standards in visual arts.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to integrate art education with other core subjects.
  • Demonstrates techniques and procedures to students, providing ongoing support for skill enhancement.
  • Assesses and reviews student artwork to track progress and offer constructive feedback.
  • Develops and shares evaluation criteria for student projects.
  • Connects art education to historical, scientific, and mathematical concepts.
  • Maintains open communication with parents through various channels.
  • Facilitates student visits to cultural institutions, such as museums or galleries, when appropriate.
  • Encourages creativity and artistic exploration among students.
  • Establishes a classroom management system that promotes a positive learning environment.
  • Keeps accurate records of student performance and attendance.
  • May oversee the organization of student art competitions and exhibitions.
  • Adapts teaching methods to accommodate students with diverse learning needs.
