Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager

Spees Design Build (SDB) is looking for a dedicated Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager to enhance our engineering capabilities. In this role, you will engage in AEC design tasks under the guidance of licensed professionals.

Your responsibilities will include the design and drafting of mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) for a variety of commercial and federal projects. Daily activities will encompass building system modeling, conducting design calculations, reviewing building codes and industry standards, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. You will be part of a mechanical team focused on exceeding client expectations while ensuring timely project delivery.

SDB is a design-build firm that excels in providing architecture, engineering, and project management consulting services. We foster teamwork, tackle innovative projects, and maintain a stimulating and collaborative work environment. As a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, we operate in various regions.

You will integrate into the dynamic architectural and engineering (A/E) design team within SDB's Design-Bid-Build operations, primarily focusing on various project types within the Veterans Affairs Medical Center systems across the nation.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience in designing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Experience in coordinating with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Skilled in HVAC load calculation software.
  • Strong familiarity with state and federal codes and industry standards.
  • Possess a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Preferred experience in federal projects.
  • Preferred licensure as a professional engineer.
  • Preferred experience in leading mechanical design projects.
Responsibilities

Your role will involve mechanical design and project management tasks, including:

  • Managing various mechanical design projects.
  • Conducting HVAC load calculations.
  • Ensuring compliance with building codes, energy codes, and various standards.
  • Performing design calculations.
  • Space planning and equipment layout design.
  • Designing ductwork and piping systems.
  • Editing and reviewing specifications.
  • Visiting project sites to gather design information and document existing conditions.
  • Maintaining a thorough focus on design details.
  • Communicating effectively with the internal design team and clients.
  • Willingness to assist with various tasks as needed.
Essential Functions
  • Prolonged periods of desk work and computer use.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Occasional travel for field investigation and construction inspection.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required.

The salary range for this position is between $120k and $160k, depending on experience.
