Primary Responsibilities
  • Design and Planning: We'll count on you to design and plan production for general civil projects, including site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities.
  • Quantity Calculations: You will perform quantity calculations to ensure accurate project estimates.
  • Specifications and Contract Documents: Prepare specifications and contract documents to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Complex Assignments: Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection, and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Decision Making: Make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as needed.
  • Technical Leadership: Function as a Technical Specialist or Project Manager on mid-size projects as needed, but project management is not the sole focus of this position.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise a small staff of professionals and technicians as needed.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Experience in General Civil Engineering: Experience in general civil engineering is necessary.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License: A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Demonstrated leadership and communication skills are essential.
  • Computer Applications: Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications in Civil Engineering, such as InRoads, Siteworks, Hecras, etc.
  • Microsoft Office: Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Culture Fit: An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous Work Experience: Previous work experience with Cal Trans/Local Cities projects (studies and design) is preferred.
