SUMMARY

The Avionics Technician III is responsible for the inspection, testing, adjustment, and repair of avionics systems, including radar, radio, pulse navigation autopilot, and compass systems. Utilizing hand tools, computers, and specialized test equipment, this role ensures the airworthiness of aircraft and their systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct thorough inspections of avionics components to identify defects such as loose connections and damaged wiring.
  • Interpret and apply manufacturer and airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other relevant documentation to assess the feasibility of repairs and modifications.
  • Perform testing of avionics equipment under both simulated and actual operating conditions to evaluate performance and airworthiness.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring and associated components as necessary.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace defective components based on detailed analysis of test results, following blueprints and technical documents.
  • Calibrate repaired or installed equipment to meet specified standards.
  • Operate ground stations for air-to-ground checks of radar and other equipment.
  • Fabricate wiring harnesses as required.
  • Ensure compliance with avionics upgrades and modifications.
  • Collaborate with company maintenance control, customers, and manufacturers regarding aircraft airworthiness and operational readiness.
  • Maintain knowledge of maintenance orders and applicable regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

NATIONALIZATION DUTIES

  • Provide training and oversight to host nation avionics mechanics to support aircraft maintenance and ensure airworthiness.
  • Assist in developing training programs for host nation mechanics, including targeted on-the-job training modules.
  • Adhere to technical data as outlined in relevant military manuals.
  • Perform other assigned duties as necessary.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Graduation from a two-year electronics or avionics technical school or equivalent experience.

Preferred:

  • Experience in maintenance training or quality control.
  • Strong background in electrical and avionics systems.
  • Current FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe rating.
  • Experience in host nation programs.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • At least eight years of experience in aircraft installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, diagrams, specifications, and service manuals.
  • Current Radiotelephone License from the FCC.
  • Proficiency in the host nation language as required.
  • Possession of a valid US passport with sufficient validity.

Preferred:

  • Experience with King Air 250 aircraft.
  • Experience maintaining FLIR and Weather Radar Systems.
