Electrical Engineer II-III Job Summary

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at the University of Colorado Boulder is seeking a talented intermediate level Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a member of the electrical and electronics engineering team, you will be at the forefront of cutting-edge space instrument hardware development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designs, tests, and debugs, and operates space flight electronics.
  • Contributes information and analysis informing architectural decisions.
  • Makes design decisions and communicates design progress to the project team, lead EE, peer-reviewers, etc.
  • Ability to define complex production documentation and processes.
  • Participates in detailed interactions with other engineering disciplines and project management as needed for projects/programs.
  • Manages selection of EEE parts and supports the procurement process.
  • May perform Worst Case Analyses.
  • Peer review EE designs and production documents with enough working knowledge of other disciplines to contribute outside the EE disciplines.
  • May participate in or lead planning and budgeting for small programs.
  • May support proposal efforts.
  • Mentors and supervises undergraduate research assistants (students).
  • May represent the EE group within LASP.
  • Presents at project-level reviews; interacts at conferences and other events on behalf of LASP.
  • Interacts with component vendors to obtain technical reports and application support.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and / or Electrical and Computer Engineering (other degrees will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis).
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience designing electronics or mechatronic systems including schematic capture, PWB layout, parts selection, verification and test planning and execution.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems (including soft core MCUs, SoCs, various FPGA architectures) and mixed signal designs.
What We Offer
  • Relocation expenses up to the equivalent of one-months' salary (taxable).
  • Salary range: $94,804.43 - $149,095.07.
  • We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 200% matching for the first 5% contributed with immediate vesting.
