Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Instrumentation Designer to join our team at Eichleay Engineers. This is a full-time position that requires a strong background in instrumentation and controls design, with a focus on process control systems.



Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop instrumentation and controls systems for industrial processes, including P&ID's, Loop Diagrams, and Data/Spec Sheets.
  • Collaborate with project teams to complete design and drafting tasks, including preparation of detail and assembly drawings using CAD systems.
  • Review and analyze technical specifications, sketches, drawings, and related data to prepare drawings and assist in design drafting.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of electronic and pneumatic instruments, control valves, analyzers, flow, level, pressure, temperature, and vibration instruments.
  • Design diagrams to connect various control system platforms, including DCS, Analyzer systems, PLC's, HMI's, Network switches, and media converters.
  • Work with project teams to ensure compliance with NEC codes, NFPA, ISA, and IEEE standards.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of PLC and DCS systems, including SPI for instrumentation database updates and loops generation.
  • Collaborate with engineers to create designs, layouts, and detailed components/systems.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of AutoCAD, Excel, Word, and SmartPlant (SPI) software.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of process control systems, including control valves, analyzers, flow, level, pressure, temperature, and vibration instruments.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure compliance with client site-based rules and protocols regarding infectious diseases.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of related work experience (less experience combined with discipline-related education will be considered).
  • Associate degree in an engineering or scientific discipline; or specialized courses in design, electronics, electrical, process control; or Certificate from an Instrumentation Technical School or equivalent.
  • Experience in the specification (including completing data sheets in SPI) and application of various field instrumentation including transmitters, flow meters, control valves, and other field devices is desirable.
  • AutoCAD proficiency is a must. Experience with SPI/INtools wiring is highly desired.
  • Working knowledge of PLC and DCS systems with SPI for instrumentation database updates and loops generation.
  • Able to evaluate equipment in the field, including climbing ladders, flights of stairs, etc.
  • This is an on-site position and requires the ability to be badged for PSM-governed facilities, which require a TWIC card and in-depth drug screening.


Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • While performing duties of this job, you would occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear (this includes being able to hear and talk on-site-based communication equipment), distinguish between various colors, be able to hear safety tones/notifications, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools, temperature, or controls.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Overtime may be necessary as workload dictates. This may include weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Job duties will generally be performed at a client's office, client site, production facility, or industrial/construction job site.
  • Conditions and/or schedule will vary at each client location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply.
  • Candidates will be required to follow our clients' site-based rules and protocols regarding infectious diseases.
