POSITION SUMMARY:
The GIS Manager is responsible for providing technical proficiency in GIS, overseeing GIS data collection, product development, and analytics, while supervising GIS production activities. This role also encompasses administrative responsibilities, including task assignment, schedule and budget monitoring, interdepartmental coordination, and quality assurance. The GIS Manager will lead the team and engage in production tasks.
LOCATION: Colorado Springs, CO
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collect, organize, edit, interpret images, and execute production tasks to create finished products that align with client specifications.
- Offer technical guidance in GIS map production, troubleshoot complex technical challenges, and develop processes for data conversion and processing.
- Oversee GIS mapping operations to maximize efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Examine production orders or schedules to determine product data, including types, quantities, specifications, and planned delivery dates to organize departmental operations.
- Plan production activities, establishing priorities and sequences.
- Prepare schedules and coordinate activities to ensure that production and quality standards are met.
- Review production and operational reports, resolving issues to minimize costs and prevent delays.
- Continuously seek methods to enhance production processes, reduce costs, and improve product delivery.
- Develop or update standard operational procedures and monitor compliance among technicians.
- Support Sales and Proposals teams as needed for technical documentation, presentations, cost estimations, and project planning.
- Ensure quality by adhering to Sanborn's Quality Management System (QMS) and providing ISO training to staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
Provide daily guidance, training, mentoring, and direction to GIS team members. Actively participate in the recruitment process and oversee employee evaluations within the department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The qualifications listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in GIS is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Over 7 years of experience in a GIS environment, proficient with ESRI suite and tools, as well as QGIS.
- Familiarity with Open Street Maps.
- Knowledge of Lidar production tools.
COMPENSATION: Salary range is between 85K - 105K annually.
