Materials Specialist

At Peckham Industries, we're a family-run business with a rich history dating back to 1924. We operate a network of hot mix asphalt and ready-mix concrete plants, quarries, and liquid asphalt terminals, providing high-quality materials and custom solutions to road construction and maintenance customers. Our construction operations include paving and road reclamation services, as well as precast/pre-stressed concrete production and erection of multi-level parking structures, specialty buildings, and bridge components.
Job Summary:
Our paid Internship Program is designed to provide practical, relevant experience in your field of study while welcoming you into our family by choice culture. As a Materials Intern, you'll assist and support our Materials Team with essential projects, gaining invaluable experience for your future career. Key projects and tasks include PRS Inventory, RCC Permits, and learning our point of sale, ticketing system, and clerk training.
Requirements:
1. Excellent Attendance and Punctuality.
2. Strict adherence to all safety protocol, OSHA safety rules and regulations procedures.
3. Current enrollment at an accredited college or university with a 3.0 or higher GPA.
4. Successful submission of our online application and a cover letter or paragraph stating your major and what intrigues you about it.
5. Proficient written and verbal English communication skills.
6. Legal right to work in the U. S.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Work environment is dependent upon internship placement and may operate in a professional office or physical work environment. The professional work environment is mostly sedentary, outside of travel. Some internships may involve heavy work that includes heavy lifting, working near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, pulling, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion.
