Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant

The Duke Cancer Network is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join our team of healthcare professionals dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care in the community. As a key member of our oncology team, you will work collaboratively with attending physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients with various types of cancer.
Responsibilities- Perform triage, physical exams, collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies, diagnostic procedures, and professional consultations.
- Prescribe appropriate interventions and medications, coordinate patient care, and provide direct patient services.
- Analyze clinical practice patterns to provide the best medical care and increase effectiveness and efficiency.
- Communicate verbally and in writing all pertinent patient information to supervising MD, nursing staff, patient resource manager, home health agency, and other relevant healthcare providers.
- Provide timely documentation in the electronic medical record of all relevant data, including results of diagnostic tests, laboratory results, patients' condition, and response to therapies/interventions.
- Nurse Practitioners: Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program, with a Bachelor's degree required and Master's degree strongly preferred.
- Certification: BLS required, National certification as a NP required prior to or within 6 months of employment.
- License: Current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina, and certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Experience: 1+ years of APP experience strongly preferred, with oncology experience desired.
The Advanced Practice Provider will work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, with opportunities to grow professionally through DCN's clinical practice model, participate in clinical research and educational programs, and contribute to the development of oncology standards within the Duke Cancer Network oncology clinics.
