Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Baker I to join our team at Professional Contract Services Inc. As a key member of our dining facility operations, you will be responsible for preparing and baking a variety of food items.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Measure and mix ingredients for dough and batter using measuring tools.
  2. Roll and shape dough using a rolling pin and cut it into uniform portions with a knife or divider.
  3. Mold dough into desired shapes and place it in greased or floured pans.
  4. Cook pie fillings and pour them into pie shells, topping with meringue or cream.
  5. Check production schedules to determine the variety and quantity of goods to bake.
  6. Spread or sprinkle toppings on loaves or specialties and place dough in the oven using a long-handled paddle.
  7. Cover fillings with top crusts, place pies in the oven, and adjust drafts or thermostatic controls to regulate oven temperature.
  8. Mix ingredients to make icing, decorate cakes and pastries, and blend colors for icing, shaped ornaments, and statuaries.
  9. Cut, peel, and prepare fruit for pie fillings, and prepare sauces, custards, and Jell-O.
  10. Maintain inventory records and measure food amounts accurately.
  11. Observe company safety procedures and standards to ensure a safe working environment.
  12. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and members of the military armed forces.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and some specialized training in high-volume feeding.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience working in the food industry, with baking experience preferred.
  • Ability to climb, bend, squat, push, lift, and carry objects ranging from pounds, with prolonged standing up to 90%.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety principles and practices related to cleaning and food preparation.
  • Knowledge of procedures for safe handling of chemicals and ability to wear protective gear when working with them.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and operate listed tools and equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and establish effective working relationships.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to use general commercial kitchen equipment, including mixing machines, blenders, deep-fat fryers, and convection/conventional ovens.
  • Ability to work occasionally under conditions of high temperature.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and maintenance of a good driving record.
