The Technical Director will provide strategic direction, leadership, and technical expertise to the technical management team, supporting the continuous improvement of vessel performance, maintenance, and repair operations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic plans for vessel maintenance, repairs, dry-docking, and upgrades, optimizing operational performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee the preparation, execution, and management of vessel budgets, including maintenance, repair, and capital expenditure projects.
- Provide technical guidance and support to superintendents, engineers, and shore-based personnel, ensuring high standards of vessel maintenance and reliability.
- Monitor and evaluate vessel performance, including fuel consumption, emissions, and overall efficiency, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including IMO, USCG, MARPOL, SOLAS, and other relevant standards.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, shipyards, classification societies, flag states, and regulatory bodies to ensure timely and cost-effective service delivery.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of vessels to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Collaborate with the HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) team to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the fleet.
- Develop and mentor the technical management team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and technical excellence.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes, ensuring the tanker fleet remains competitive and compliant.
- Support emergency response activities, providing technical expertise during incidents or operational disruptions.
