Join Interstate Waste Services, Inc. as a Class A Truck Operator
The Class A CDL Truck Operators will be responsible for driving tractor trailers to transport containers of municipal and commercial waste.
Key Highlights:
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts from 5:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
- Competitive hourly wage of $28.38.
- Overtime compensation is available after 40 hours of work in a week.
- Minimum of 1 year of Class A, Tractor Trailer driving experience is essential, with a preference for 3-5 years.
- Experience with intermodal containers is advantageous.
Core Responsibilities
- Safely operate the truck while adhering to the company's safety protocols, OSHA, DOT regulations, and local traffic laws.
- This is a full-time, year-round position.
- As a union role, it offers competitive remuneration and comprehensive benefits, including medical coverage, life insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
- All routes are local, ensuring that you will return home daily.
- Maintain the security of the intermodal container and its contents on the Tractor & Chassis Unit, which may involve climbing onto containers and checking tarps and ties.
- Conduct pre- and post-route inspections of the assigned vehicle and report any safety concerns.
- Monitor for safety and service-related issues, reporting any necessary repairs to the Route Supervisor or Dispatch.
- Uphold a professional demeanor when communicating with customers and Dispatchers, addressing any service-related complaints courteously.
Work Environment
- The role may require lifting up to 50 pounds and involves frequent mounting and dismounting of the truck.
- All trucks are equipped with route tracking software and video monitoring to enhance safety and accountability.
- Compliance with DOT safety regulations, including motor vehicle record reviews and drug testing, is strictly enforced.
Qualifications
- Candidates must be at least 21 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States.
- A valid Class A CDL with air brake endorsement and a clean driving record is mandatory.
- At least 1 year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL-A within the last 7 years is required, with preference given to those with experience in the waste management sector.
- Familiarity with DOT, OSHA, and relevant traffic regulations is essential.
- Proficiency in English to effectively communicate with the public, understand traffic signals, and complete reports is necessary.
- Ability to read and interpret maps is required.
- Must meet the physical and safety requirements of the position and be willing to work hours as dictated by DOT regulations, which may include weekends and holidays.
