Responsibilities- Fill patient prescriptions, including data entry, insurance billing, and labeling and packaging for pharmacist verification.
- Assist pharmacists in providing timely, efficient, and cost-effective pharmaceutical care to patients.
- Make medication credit and charge adjustments via the computer system.
- Ensure extra medication is returned to stock and reorder medications in short supply.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Answer telephones and greet personnel in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Provide necessary information regarding patient drug orders and refer problems and drug information inquiries to pharmacists as required.
- Orient and train new pharmacy personnel.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous outpatient pharmacy experience preferred.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
- Applicants enrolled in or a graduate of either a 2-year Associates Degree program or a 4-year Bachelors Degree program in Health Science Majors are encouraged to apply and will be required to achieve PTCB certification within 1 year of hire date.
- Experience with McKesson Enterprise application preferred.
- Knowledge of generic and trade names of formulary drugs.
- Ability to type and perform basic math calculations.
- Computer experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service required.
- Ability to handle high volume.
