We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Assistant to join our team at Adams 12 Five Star Schools. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the academic and personal success of our students with special needs.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized support to students with special needs, including academic assistance, behavioral guidance, and functional life skills training.
- Assist students with daily routines, such as getting to and from classes, using the restroom, and maintaining personal hygiene.
- Implement specialized therapy programs and work directly with therapists to monitor progress and develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Utilize CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) techniques and safety monitoring to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Sanitize and disinfect the learning environment and general work area to maintain a clean and healthy space.
- Facilitate and encourage speech and language development through the use of alternate communication systems, such as sign language or voice-activated computer systems.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Willingness to work with students with significant needs (training opportunities provided).
- Criminal background check required for hire.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-hire, post-offer physical examination.
- CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
- Universal Precautions training required within 3 months after entering position.
- CPI/Safety Care training certification required within 3 months after entering position.
