Job Summary

PIH Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Physicist to join our team in Radiation Oncology. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing technical direction and oversight in the practice of radiation oncology physics and radiation safety control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical direction and oversight in the practice of radiation oncology physics and radiation safety control.
  • Assure the accurate and safe use of radiation generated by machines and radioactive materials in cancer treatments and diagnostic procedures.
  • Design, optimize, and deliver treatment plans, as well as perform calibration and quality performance measures of all treatment equipment, patient monitoring systems, and physics quality assurance devices.
  • Operate radiation oncology equipment and configure computer networks.
Requirements
  • Certification by the American Board of Radiology or the American Board of Medical Physics in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics.
  • Meet and maintain all qualifications imposed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and/or CA State and local radiation control agencies.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in calibration of therapy equipment, treatment planning, and clinical physics responsibilities.
  • Intensive experience in intensity modulated radiotherapy, imaged guided radiotherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiotherapy, volumetric modulated radiotherapy, and high-dose-rate brachytherapy.
  • Participation in American College of Radiology Radiation Oncology Practice Accreditation (ACR ROPA) survey or experience in preparation for ACR ROPA program or equivalent accreditation programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in medical radiation physics or Master degree from CAMPEP accredited medical physics program, and completed CAMPEP accredited residency programs.
