Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrician II to join our team at the State of North Carolina. As an Electrician II, you will be responsible for performing journey-level functions in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, fixtures, and plumbing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing electrical work assignments received from a supervisor in accordance with accepted trade practices.
  • Working independently while performing assigned tasks, referring technical or unusual working problems to a supervisor for consideration.
  • Using and maintaining electrical tools, locating and correcting defects in electrical systems and equipment.
  • Reading and working from blueprints and sketches, following oral and written instructions.
  • Supervising offender workers engaged in semiskilled, unskilled, or skilled maintenance assignments.
  • Completing work orders and ensuring equipment is in proper working condition, evaluated by the supervisor.
  • Performing other duties as required.
Requirements

To qualify for this position, applicants must document in the work experience section of the application that they possess all of the following:

  • Documented working knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and/or equipment used in the maintenance and repair of building electrical systems.
Education and Experience

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

About the Department

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff, as well as the division of Community Supervision.
