Key Responsibilities
As an integral member of the patient care team, the Clinical Support Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring positive patient experiences. Responsibilities include effective communication with patients, verifying their information through interviews, and confirming the purpose of their visit. The role also involves preparing patients for examinations by conducting preliminary assessments, such as measuring vital signs and documenting medical histories.
This position will also involve training in appointment scheduling and managing the collection and maintenance of patient demographics and insurance details.
- Welcomes patients, accurately records vital signs, and reviews current medications in the medical record.
- Assists in tracking and monitoring department-specific metrics.
- Communicates policies, procedures, and services to patients using clinical or administrative expertise, within the scope of practice.
- Prepares examination and procedure rooms according to patient needs.
- Facilitates patient care flow and assists in managing CS-Link message pools and standard operational procedures.
- Maintains cleanliness and reprocesses equipment and supplies in accordance with departmental guidelines.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program and/or certification from a recognized Medical Assistant organization is required.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinical or medical office environment is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
- Medical Assistant certification and/or diploma is required.
