Job Summary:
- Assist nursing personnel in providing comprehensive resident care, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.
- May be required to take call for staffing coverage, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
- Delegate duties to non-licensed nursing personnel and monitor their performance under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Participate in Quality Assurance data collection and analysis, contributing to the improvement of our care services.
- Adhere to all regulations regarding cleanliness, infection control, and Standard Precaution.
- Assist with records, orders, and assessment of new admissions, ensuring seamless transitions for our residents.
- Completed assigned resident assessments as directed by the MDS Nurse or Director of Nursing.
- Attend scheduled Nurse Department meetings, staying informed about important updates and initiatives.
- Assist with monitoring and measuring decubiti weekly, completing integument watch assessment forms accurately.
- Report any performance concerns to the RN, supporting a culture of accountability and growth.
- Collaborate with other departments to implement needs for the unit and patients, fostering a sense of community and teamwork.
- Participate in lab requests as ordered, using appropriate techniques and protocols.
- Respond to emergencies arising during duty hours, performing CPR if needed, and assisting with emergencies on other units.
- Notify attending physicians of changes or illnesses affecting patients, implementing orders as instructed.
- Support general duties such as rounds with doctors, verification of completeness of nursing summaries, and maintenance of accurate records.
- Provide hall coverage as needed, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to support the team.
- Contribute to coordinating the healthcare team, including rehab aide duties and assignments.
Requirements:
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) graduated from an accredited School of Nursing, with a current, valid license in North Carolina.
- Must demonstrate a genuine interest in geriatric nursing, prioritizing quality care and compassion.
- Must maintain CPR certification yearly and participate in in-service training and staff meetings as required.
- Must exhibit strong problem-solving skills, ability to work well under pressure, and perform various jobs efficiently.
- Must read, know, and follow personnel, department, and facility policies and procedures, adhering to local, state, and federal requirements.
- Must be able to maneuver medication carts, treatment carts, and other nursing equipment safely and effectively.
