Job Overview:

Hi-Way Paving, Inc. is a leading general contractor in the heavy/civil construction space, specializing in concrete paving on airfields and highways.

We are seeking skilled Asphalt Construction Specialists to join our team of experts who will travel between projects in Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and other locations to execute slip-form concrete paving operations.

About the Role:

As an Asphalt Construction Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the construction project are executed safely and efficiently.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Cleaning and preparing construction areas
  • Pouring concrete and assisting with finishing
  • Shoveling and raking dirt, gravel, and concrete
  • Reading plans, instructions, and specifications to execute work
  • Loading, unloading, or identifying construction materials, machinery, and tools
  • Distributing materials to job site locations according to project plans or specifications
  • Using hand and power tools as necessary to complete tasks
  • Directing vehicle traffic and signaling equipment operators as needed
  • Operating equipment such as backhoes, skid steer loaders, and other equipment
  • Communicating effectively with laborers, machine operators, and site management
  • Observing safe work practices and safety protocols and instructions

Requirements:

To be successful as an Asphalt Construction Specialist, you will need:

  • Construction-site labor experience preferred
  • Heavy or highway construction experience preferred
  • Physical capabilities required: climbing, lifting, carrying a minimum of 75 lbs., standing, sitting, walking, entering confined spaces, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, and performing repetitive actions
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to gain clearance in restricted/high-security zones (Airport AOA, Military Bases, etc.)
  • Must be able to travel up to 100% of the time
  • For Skilled Labor: 3+ years (journeyman) experience in your trade required
