Job Title: Produce Order Specialist
At Whole Foods Market, we are seeking a skilled Produce Order Specialist to join our team.
About the Role:- This is a full-time position that requires a strong understanding of produce products, including production, distribution, seasonal availability, and trends.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for purchasing and replenishing produce through proper buying procedures, monitoring inventory control, and participating in regional programs for purchasing and promotions.
- A key aspect of this role is maximizing sales potential through effective merchandising and stocking of products.
- Purchase and replenish produce through proper buying procedures, ensuring timely and accurate orders.
- Monitor and act upon open PO reports for both purchases and credits, maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
- Control spoilage and shrink, achieving turn goals and participating in inventory management.
- Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required, adhering to quality standards.
- Maximize sales potential through effective merchandising and stocking of products, showcasing knowledge of product information and nutritional benefits.
- Ensure customer special order procedure is followed accurately and efficiently.
- Analyze and control product transfers, waste, and spoilage, applying problem-solving skills to optimize results.
- Support leadership in conducting inventories, demonstrating attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Maintain financial profitability by meeting and exceeding purchasing and sales targets, driving revenue growth and minimizing costs.
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing needs promptly and effectively while modeling suggestive selling techniques.
- Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork and collaboration among colleagues.
- Follow established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices, ensuring compliance and maintaining a clean working environment.
- Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, ensuring accuracy of signs and pricing, and reporting safety hazards immediately.
- 12+ months retail experience, preferably in produce or a related field.
- Strong basic math skills and ability to use computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand/walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday, and perform other physical requirements outlined below.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional customer service and promoting a positive company image.
- Lifting 50 pounds.
- Standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday.
- Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
- Work requires bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
- Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
- Exposure to temperatures up to 90°F.
- Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
- May require use of ladders.
We offer a competitive salary range of $55,000-$65,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. This estimate is inclusive of base pay and does not include additional forms of compensation.
