We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team at Fort Zumwalt R-II School District. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing healthcare services to our students, promoting a healthy and safe learning environment, and collaborating with our educational staff to support student success.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide basic health care services to students during the school day, minimizing absenteeism due to illness and promoting a climate of health and well-being.
- Maintain confidentiality about students' health, illness, or accident, and ensure accurate and up-to-date cumulative health records.
- Review each student's immunization status, send immunization requirement forms, and obtain medical/religious/immunization-in-process forms as needed.
- Work with the coordinator of nursing services to secure supplies and equipment for building clinics.
- Conduct student wellness checks, vision and hearing screenings, and provide first aid to ill or injured students.
- Assist with students needing medication, keep accurate records, and complete accident/injury reports as necessary.
- Serve as a resource person regarding individual student matters and curriculum support for building personnel.
- Licensure as a registered professional nurse and certification in CPR.
- Ability to maintain highly confidential information, communicate clearly, and reason and make appropriate decisions.
- Detail-oriented and able to solve a variety of problems in different situations.
- Ability to lift over 20 lbs and occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs.
Employment will be on an at-will basis for 9 1/2 months, beginning with the first day of the work calendar or at the time of employment for the duration of the school year with prorated personal leave.
Seven and 1/2 hours for elementary and middle schools and eight hours for high school (including a paid 30-minute lunch period) will constitute a workday for school nurses.
A definite daily schedule will be established by the building principal and approved by the Assistant Superintendent of Personnel.
The yearly salary will be disbursed in twenty-four (24) equal payments.
Evaluation:End-of-the-year performance evaluations will occur annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional support staff personnel.
