About the Role

Gallagher Bassett Technical Services (GBTS) division is seeking a Construction Safety Loss Control Consultant to perform safety/loss control risk inspections on multi-year construction projects in the Missouri regional area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct multi-line and/or specialty loss and operational analysis to achieve successful implementation of complex insurance and risk management programs.
  • Contribute to business growth and retention goals by ensuring client risk improvement needs are addressed, demonstrating high understanding of client business, risk, and risk profile.
  • Perform periodic onsite inspections and audits of customer sites to evaluate the level of compliance with Safety Management, Environmental Health and Safety, and Risk Management plans, programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Review metrics related to safety and health and related claims history.
  • Conduct periodic Safety meetings with Operations at various active construction site project locations.
  • Prepare an evaluation report to gain an understanding of current operations of the facility location and to prepare a report that examines potential health and safety compliance risks, liabilities, workplace practices, and recommendations for correction or improvement.
  • Provide client/appropriate Client team members with quarterly status reports.
  • Attend teleconference client meetings as requested and as appropriate, on safety meetings teleconference with the Client project team.
  • Provide on-call technical support via phone, email, or teleconference to Client, as requested, or risk management/claims Administration personnel.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience; 5 years related experience in Safety, Risk, or Insurance.
  • Minimum 10-years experience in construction and safety management.
  • Minimum 5-years experience specifically in safety on infrastructure and/or building construction projects.
  • Ability to obtain appropriate licenses and/or certifications in all states where business is conducted.
  • Safety training experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Moderate travel required, including possible some overnight travel. Ability to travel by automobile and aircraft and work outside or normal business hours as required.
  • Ability to perform work on varied customer properties; entails negotiating non-public access areas, climbing, lifting, sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Occupational or Industrial Safety, Fire Protection, Risk Management preferred; and certifications in the following are preferred: Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST).
  • Familiarity with owner-controlled (OCIP) and contractor-controlled (CCIP) insurance programs.

  • Interfaces effectively with management, clients, account teams, and partners.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures, proactively protecting confidentiality of client and company information. Understands industry trends, OSHA, and federal/state governmental regulations.
  • Efficiently organizes work and manages time in order to meet deadlines.
  • Exercises discretion in confidential matters and uses independent judgment.
