Position Overview

In this position, you will be responsible for:

The Advanced Practice Provider will evaluate, plan, and deliver direct patient care in both outpatient and surgical environments. This includes conducting thorough physical assessments, gathering patient medical histories, and assisting in surgical procedures.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with supervising physicians in various clinical settings, including the office and surgical environments.
  • Collecting comprehensive medical histories, executing detailed physical examinations, and providing direct care to designated patient populations.
  • Drafting routine admission, pre-operative, and post-operative directives.
  • Conducting daily rounds and follow-ups for patients recovering in the hospital.
  • Facilitating consultations in hospital and emergency department settings.
  • Performing patient assessments and initiating treatment plans in conjunction with the attending physician.
  • Applying and removing orthopedic devices such as casts and splints.
  • Preparing discharge orders and documenting discharge summaries for review by the supervising physician.
  • Alerting the supervising physician or on-call physician regarding any unexpected occurrences or issues that require immediate attention.
  • Implementing safety and infection control protocols.
  • Overseeing and coordinating the activities of patient care and support personnel.
  • Documenting patient progress and treatment interventions in medical records.
  • Providing health education and resources to patients and their families.
  • Engaging in professional development through educational opportunities, literature review, and workshops.
  • Possibly participating in clinical research initiatives.
  • Ensuring adherence to all organizational policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Graduated from an accredited program for Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners.
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants for PAs.
  • Proof of National Advanced Practice Certification from an approved nursing specialty board for APRNs.
  • Current licensure in the State of Florida.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical and surgical first assist experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Athenahealth EMR is advantageous.
