Overview of the Role

MedStar Health is seeking a dedicated Physical Rehabilitation Specialist to become a vital part of our team.

The Physical Rehabilitation Specialist is responsible for delivering comprehensive physical therapy services to patients, which includes conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, implementing therapies, reassessing progress, planning for discharge, and maintaining thorough documentation across various environments. This role involves collaboration in program development and contributing to the achievement of established objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Conducts thorough evaluations, including reviewing relevant medical history, performing targeted assessments, and formulating recommendations while documenting results. Communicates evaluation outcomes and treatment strategies to patients and their families, ensuring their involvement in goal-setting. Exhibits expertise in executing treatment protocols based on assessment results, patient condition, and the dynamic healthcare landscape. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals as necessary and identifies changes in patient status that may require adjustments to the care plan or additional consultations. Manages effective discharge planning and follow-up care. Ensures accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities, including comprehensive initial evaluations, daily notes, progress summaries, and discharge assessments. Demonstrates strong time management skills and meets productivity standards. Maintains an organized schedule and shows a commitment to providing seamless patient access to care through adaptability, creativity, and empathetic interactions. Proactively engages in continuing education for personal and professional development. Serves as a mentor and clinical instructor for students and assists in the orientation of new staff and volunteers.

Qualifications:

A degree in Physical Therapy (Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral). Required licensure in Maryland, District of Columbia, and/or Virginia as applicable. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
