Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure reasonable accommodations are provided for individuals with disabilities to perform essential tasks.
  • Prepare meals in accordance with the menu, recipes, and the number of residents to be served.
  • Deliver meals to residents, including the setup and breakdown of food service equipment.
  • Transport food items to dining areas and various kitchen workstations.
  • Plate meals for residents from the steam table.
  • Distribute supplies, utensils, and other necessary equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and utensils following established procedures.
  • Wash cooking equipment, pots, pans, dishes, and utensils.
  • Manage waste disposal as required.
  • Store food in designated locations appropriately.
  • Monitor and log temperatures in refrigeration units.
  • Assign tasks to Dietary Aides and Prep Cooks as directed by the Dietary Manager.
  • Report any operational issues to the Dietary Manager promptly.
  • Adhere to state and federal sanitation standards.
  • Comply with all applicable health care and safety regulations.
  • Participate in required training sessions and meetings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least one year of experience in food preparation is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A sanitation certificate is mandatory.
  • Experience in a long-term care or hospital environment is preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversee the work of Dietary Aides as necessary, including training, planning, and addressing any issues that arise.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret recipes, safety regulations, and procedural manuals.
  • Strong written communication skills for clear reporting.
  • Effective verbal communication skills to convey information.
  • Basic math skills for measuring and calculating food quantities.
