About the Role

Cornell University's Statler Hotel is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Banquet Captain to join our Meetings & Events Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth execution of events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist managers and supervisors in event coordination and support
  • Lead events when managers or supervisors are not present, supervising staff, setting up and breaking down events, and ensuring safety and sanitation standards are met
  • Assist with pre-event planning and post-event documentation
  • Train and supervise student and professional staff
  • Cross-train in other operational areas of the hotel as needed
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required, Associates Degree or higher preferred
  • One to three or more years of relative experience in banquets, catering, and/or meeting and events execution or supervision
  • Excellent customer service, teamwork, and leadership skills
  • Professional demeanor fitting of a high-end, four-diamond property
  • Ability and enthusiasm to coach, mentor, and train students as well as other inexperienced staff
