Job Summary:

Arcadis seeks a highly experienced Resident Engineer to join our team in Los Angeles. As a key member of our construction management team, you will be responsible for administering Caltrans construction contracts and reviewing the work of contractor forces in accordance with the Caltrans Construction Manual and all governing specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer Caltrans construction contracts and review contractor operations for compliance with CAL OSHA regulations.
  • Provide direction to staff to ensure complete, accurate, and timely contract records are maintained in accordance with State and Federal regulations and laws.
  • Confer with contractors regarding compliance with plans and quality of work and construction activity.
  • Perform field inspections of contractors' work to determine compliance with plans, specifications, special provisions, utility agreements, etc.
  • Prepare reports and reviews daily inspection reports from Field Inspectors to document contractors' activities.
  • Maintain accurate and complete project records and ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Monitor project schedule and budget.
  • Prepare contract change orders for making alterations, deviations, additions to, or deletions from the plans and specifications to ensure proper completion or construction of the contract.
  • Assist Caltrans in the resolution and response to contractor disputes promptly as provided by the contract.
  • Ensure conformance with all Caltrans contract documents.

Requirements:

  • Approximately ten years of experience in Construction Management of Heavy Civil Engineering projects.
  • Approximately three years of supervisory experience in the management of major construction contracts of similar size and scope.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Caltrans experience.
