Job Summary

Duke University is seeking a skilled Imaging Engineer to join our team. As an Imaging Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of imaging and imaging-related equipment. This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of electronics, mechanical, and electromechanical device repair, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and complex tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, and repair of imaging and imaging-related clinical equipment.
  • Conduct electrical safety tests on clinical equipment using specialized test equipment.
  • Assist in the support of a systematic preventive maintenance program.
  • Perform incoming inspections and complete documentation on clinical equipment.
  • Serve as a resource to Duke University Health System employees in the proper operation and maintenance of clinical equipment.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Electronics or Biomedical Equipment Technology is required.
  • Two years of military training in clinical equipment or vocational training in electronics may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Level I: No experience required, beyond degree/military/vocational training described above.
  • Level II: Requires a minimum of two years of experience as an Imaging Engineer, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Level III: Requires a minimum of five years experience as an Imaging Engineer. CRES certification and/or manufacturer and modality specific OEM training may substitute for two years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid North Carolina Drivers license with a good driving record.
  • Qualify as a candidate for certification as a CRES by AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation).
