Job Summary

Associates play a critical role as part of our investment team, working closely with senior and junior deal professionals and portfolio company management teams on value creation initiatives.

Responsibilities include all aspects of the investment, due diligence, and portfolio management processes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Originate and close deals, generating a robust pipeline of actionable opportunities that align with Brentwood's target investment criteria.
  2. Develop and lead a research-driven investment thesis, demonstrating the ability to understand the financial, strategic, and operational drivers of businesses.
  3. Develop additive network relationships, including ownership of 4-5 deep sector relationships.
  4. Proven ability to analyze the financial profile of businesses, accurately and effectively.
  5. Develop and present detailed financial models, operating and returns.
  6. Lead role quarterbacking diligence, ensuring compliance with Brentwood's internal processes.
  7. Develop comprehensive diligence plans, managing 3rd party resources and financing processes.
  8. Effective communication to Investment Committee, updating and being transparent with findings.
  9. Develop management team relationships, implementing governance best practices and driving Board initiatives.
  10. Board-level involvement with portfolio companies, developing additive banker and/or strategic relationships to facilitate exits.
  11. Active support role recruiting talent to the firm.
Requirements
  1. Up to 6 years of directly relevant experience with private equity, corporate development, investment banking, or strategy consulting experience.
  2. Undergraduate degree from a top-tier university with exceptional academic achievement.
  3. Mature, professional candidate who is a self-starter willing to accept a large amount of responsibility.
  4. Experience leading lean investment teams, with ability to operate at all levels.
  5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to comprehend and handle large volumes of data.
  6. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
  7. Advanced Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint skills required, experience building models and decks.
  8. Comfort with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Extreme attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership.
  10. Low ego attitude with a willingness to shift from high-level critical thinking to necessary mundane tasks required to complete a job.
  11. Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and enthusiasm for the role.
  12. Interest and/or previous experience in the recurring software/tech/business services industry a plus.
