Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic advice to clients, oversee vendor prequalification, evaluate proposals and bids, and make final recommendations while managing the appointment process.
- Oversee estimating services for projects by creating detailed cost estimates, reviewing junior team members' work, presenting findings to clients, and conducting risk assessments.
- Establish and manage cost reporting schedules, review project budgets, and maintain a commercial risk register while facilitating meetings with project teams and vendors.
- Control costs by assessing payment applications, liaising with project managers, and managing change orders and contractual disputes.
- Monitor the invoicing process and ensure compliance with financial protocols.
- Benchmark project performance against successful commissions to identify areas for improvement.
- Conduct post-contract reviews to compile lessons learned and develop training materials.
- Develop and implement procedures for project handover.
- Utilize various tools including Bid Analysis Sheets and Cost Estimating Software to perform all duties effectively.
- Ensure projects meet quality standards and are completed on time and within budget.
- Align project delivery with client objectives and contractual conditions.
- Lead project teams effectively and foster strong relationships with clients and cross-functional teams.
- Monitor the financial health of all projects diligently.
- Ensure key information is communicated effectively and retained appropriately.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Construction Management or a related field is required. An acceptable equivalent will be evaluated as a six-year U.S. Bachelor's degree by a credential evaluator.
Professional Experience: A minimum of 6-10 years of relevant experience is necessary, including at least three years in a senior cost management role, performing duties such as:
- Assisting with the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, including document preparation and bid analysis.
- Supporting senior management with project estimates and budget updates.
- Regularly updating cost reports and cash flow forecasts.
- Evaluating change orders and payment applications, and advising on discrepancies.
- Measuring and pricing construction materials accurately.
