Key Responsibilities

The Orthopedic Surgical Physician Assistant plays a vital role in our healthcare team, working closely under the guidance of a licensed physician. This position encompasses a variety of clinical and administrative duties aimed at ensuring optimal patient care. Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients under the supervision of a physician, including assisting in surgical procedures.
  • Conducting thorough patient assessments by obtaining comprehensive medical histories and performing physical examinations.
  • Documenting patient interactions through history and physicals, daily notes, and discharge summaries, adhering to hospital standards.
  • Performing daily rounds and ensuring accurate documentation and charge capture.
  • Identifying urgent medical situations that require immediate physician intervention and responding appropriately.
  • Collaborating with supervising physicians regarding patient care in both outpatient and inpatient settings, providing education on health and disease management.
  • Following up with patients as necessary and coordinating care for those traveling from out of town.
  • Prescribing medications and medical devices in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of treatment plans and making referrals as needed.
  • Conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests to gather patient health information.
  • Providing backup support for clinic operations and on-call duties as required.
  • Assisting in surgical procedures and providing postoperative care.
  • Contributing to the achievement of quality indicators and core measures within the Orthopedic department.
  • Supporting residents and nursing staff in patient care and follow-up activities.
  • Taking primary call responsibilities as needed.

**This position operates Monday through Friday, focusing on Sports Medicine and Adult Reconstruction. **

**No weekend or holiday shifts required. **

**Responsibilities include surgical assistance and clinic coverage. **

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Degree in Physician Assistant studies.

A minimum of three years of clinical experience in a relevant field.

Certification as a Physician Assistant from the appropriate regulatory board. Valid DEA registration is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in general and trauma surgery is advantageous.
