Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Audio Engineering instructor to teach Audio Engineering I and potentially 1-on-1 applied lessons at Austin Community College. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in audio engineering, excellent teaching skills, and the ability to work with students of varying skill levels and backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and delivering Audio Engineering coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate ways. This will include developing and teaching courses, evaluating student progress, and providing clear, timely feedback. The instructor will also be expected to remain current in the field through professional development activities and perform other related tasks as assigned by the department chair, dean, and/or associate vice chancellor, vice chancellor, executive vice chancellor.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a Master's Degree, Bachelor's degree, or Associate degree in Music, Radio-TV-Film, Commercial Music Management, Music Business, Performance and Technology, Audio Technology or related Industry disciplines. At least 3 years of professional experience recording and mixing using Pro Tools is also required. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching in a community college setting, including teaching practices that reflect an understanding of the multicultural classroom and the benefits of cultural awareness and sensitivity in the classroom and the workplace.

Working Conditions:

The work is routinely performed in a classroom or laboratory setting. The instructor will be subject to standing, walking, sitting, and reaching for extended periods of time. The successful candidate will work safely and follow safety rules, report unsafe working conditions and behavior, and take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
