Role Overview
The Accounting Manager is a pivotal position responsible for maintaining the accuracy of our financial records and developing scalable processes as our business expands. This role encompasses various areas, including charge card management, payment processing, software as a service (SaaS) products, cash flow management, account reconciliations, and fluctuation analysis. You will collaborate across functions in a detail-oriented setting that values creative problem-solving. The Accounting Manager is expected to handle multiple priorities simultaneously while ensuring quality, accuracy, and completeness.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the comprehensive accounting processes, reconciliations, policies, and activities related to Brex's primary offerings, such as the Brex Card. This includes evaluating the appropriateness of estimates and assumptions used in rewards, network fees, card receivables, and current expected credit loss (CECL).
- Ensure timely financial closing through the preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses, while coordinating with financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
- Identify and implement process enhancements through cross-functional collaboration.
- Develop sustainable, repeatable, and scalable processes, including the review and update of process documentation.
- Act as the subject matter expert in the aforementioned areas and collaborate with the technical accounting team to research, resolve, and communicate technical accounting issues.
- Serve as a key liaison between accounting, finance, and the broader business organization to support key projects, initiatives, transactions, and strategic planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 4-6 years of experience in public accounting and/or private industry.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage challenging situations professionally.

Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed CPA.
- A blend of public accounting and private industry experience.
- Relevant expertise in credit card and payment processing.
- Familiarity with NetSuite, Looker, and/or other data visualization and automation tools.
Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this position is $124,752 - $155,940. The starting base pay will be determined by various factors, including the candidate's location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay equity. Depending on the position, equity and other forms of compensation may be included as part of the overall compensation package.
