St. Croix Health is seeking a dedicated full-time Certified Pharmacy Technician to support our retail pharmacy operations. This role involves working across various community pharmacy locations and requires availability for day shifts during the week, along with participation in a Saturday rotation.
Position Summary:The Certified Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in assisting Pharmacists with the preparation and distribution of medications, managing drug inventory, and maintaining accurate records. This position operates under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist.
Key Responsibilities:Prescription Processing:
- Receive and verify prescriptions or refill requests for completeness and accuracy.
- Process insurance claims for prescriptions.
- Prepack bulk medications, fill containers with prescribed drugs, and label appropriately.
- Maintain organized filing of prescriptions.
- Prepare pharmaceutical mixtures as per written prescriptions.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor stock levels and manage stock-outs.
- Ensure proper storage and security of medications.
- Order, label, and count medications, chemicals, or supplies, updating inventory records in the system.
Customer Interaction:
- Assist customers by answering inquiries, locating products, or directing them to the pharmacist for detailed medication information.
- Handle telephone inquiries professionally.
- Support cash register operations for customer transactions.
Education & Certification:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board is required within the first year of employment.
- Must possess a valid registration to practice in the state.
Experience:
- Prior experience in a retail pharmacy setting is preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong communication and listening abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Understanding of customer service principles, including assessing needs and ensuring satisfaction.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Prolonged standing, bending, and reaching may be required.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds as necessary.
