Librarian/Information Competency Specialist

We are seeking a highly qualified Librarian/Information Competency Instructor to join our part-time adjunct pool at Kern Community College District. The successful candidate will provide instruction in Information Competency, both in the classroom and within the library, in English and Spanish.
Key Responsibilities- Teach Information Competency courses, including recognizing an information need, information retrieval, evaluation of information, information formats, presenting information effectively, and understanding legal and ethical aspects of information.
- Develop and present library research and writing workshops, promote library resources to faculty, and perform academic reference and instruction in the use of the library's online resources.
- Maintain subject matter currency, develop and revise curriculum, and use computer and multimedia technology to support teaching and learning.
- Participate in departmental, college, and discipline-specific professional activities, and contribute to the development of subject guides and promotion and outreach efforts.
- Masters in Library Science, Library and Information Science, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in English and Spanish.
- Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that would benefit the program.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.
- Experience in teaching Information Competency courses, or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Ability to develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities.
- Ability to assess student learning outcomes.
