Position Overview:


The Bartender/Server plays a vital role in delivering exceptional food and beverage service to guests in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner.

This position involves serving guests by taking and delivering orders, as well as processing payments for services rendered.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a hotel or similar environment, particularly in Food & Beverage service.
  • Must meet the minimum legal age requirement to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • Possession of alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit as mandated by local or state regulations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Medium Work - Capable of exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to remain on your feet for the duration of the shift.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Engaging with guests and team members in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Maintaining regular attendance in accordance with Prism standards and scheduling needs.
  • Upholding high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including a clean uniform and proper nametag.
  • Adhering to Prism standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Providing attentive, friendly, and helpful service to all guests, managers, and team members.
  • Describing menu items, preparation methods, and pricing as necessary.
  • Accommodating special requests from guests as feasible.
  • Promoting menu items or specials to enhance food and beverage sales.
  • Serving food and beverages promptly and according to established service standards.
  • Completing pre- and post-shift tasks, including stocking service stations and preparing beverages.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Processing customer payments and ensuring accurate change is returned.
  • Understanding and adhering to loss prevention standards.

Menu Development:

  • Assisting with greeting and seating guests, and supporting bus staff with clearing tables and refilling drinks.
  • Responding promptly to guest requests and following up to ensure satisfaction.
  • Complying with company policies and procedures.
  • Familiarizing oneself with the restaurant layout, lounge areas, and Room Service functions.
  • Maintaining thorough knowledge of menus and current specials.
  • Utilizing suggestive selling techniques consistently.
  • Pre-bussing tables and removing soiled dishes after each course.
  • Understanding the operation of the hotel’s computer system.
  • Ensuring knowledge of safety standards, including HazCOMM and BloodBorne Pathogens.
  • Carrying out cashiering functions and completing end-of-shift paperwork.
  • Keeping tables and service stations stocked, tidy, and clean.
  • Ensuring beverages are maintained at appropriate levels.
  • Breaking down trays of soiled dishes and linens according to established procedures.
  • Consulting with the supervisor or manager on duty before concluding the shift.
  • Answering the telephone in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Being familiar with fire exits and safety protocols.
  • Understanding the locations and proper use of fire extinguishers.
  • Delivering food and beverage orders and processing payments.
  • Adhering to all alcohol awareness and sanitation standards.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Participating in meetings and training sessions as required by management.
