Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Addictions Counselor to join our team at Sheppard Pratt. As a key member of our treatment team, you will provide education and counseling on chemical dependency, co-occurring disorders, and relapse prevention to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to patients, focusing on chemical dependency, co-occurring disorders, and relapse prevention.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the treatment team, ensuring a holistic approach to patient care.
  • Conduct intake assessments, intervention services, and post-discharge follow-up for patients seeking treatment in our program.
  • Establish and maintain regular contact with referring groups, individuals, and other agencies to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Participate in weekly supervision and staff meetings to ensure continuous improvement in patient care.
Requirements
  • Certification under Health Occupation Article, Annotated Code of Maryland, to provide substance abuse treatment in the state of Maryland.
  • Knowledge of community resources, orientation to chemically dependent/dual diagnosis patients, and planning and organizational skills sufficient to resolve placement and liaison concerns.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and professionals while performing case management and triage functions.
  • Ability to document services in a timely manner with clinical skill and appropriateness.
Working Conditions

This position requires a normal office/group meeting room environment with no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or smoke. Occasional, but infrequent, physical stress or risk may be presented through contact with aggressive or disturbed patients.
