Overview:
The Human Resources Lead is primarily accountable for employee relations and strategic HR initiatives within our organization. Collaborates with leadership to implement HR strategies aligned with operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Facilitate the strategic workforce planning process, including headcount recommendations that align with business objectives.


2. Cultivate a collaborative, employee-focused culture by monitoring employee morale and engagement, and providing recommendations to enhance these based on discussions and survey feedback.

3. Develop and maintain a strong, transparent relationship with union representatives.

4. Oversee all union-related employment matters and guide the management team in researching, negotiating, and resolving daily grievances.

5. Serve as a subject matter expert on labor agreements.

6. Support the professional development and succession planning of plant leadership.

7. Act as a role model by promoting and embodying company values and culture.

8. Interpret and communicate HR policies, procedures, laws, standards, regulations, and labor agreements.

9. Manage attendance policies in accordance with organizational guidelines and FMLA regulations.

10. Collaborate with Safety to implement the workers' compensation process, including incident report completion and employee inquiries.

11. Investigate and resolve employee relations issues, including harassment claims, workplace complaints, and employee concerns.


12. Address labor relations issues to foster a strong labor-management partnership through effective communication, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements and managing grievances, due process investigations, and disciplinary actions.

13. Partner with leadership to provide guidance and recommend solutions.

14. Advise supervisors and managers on personnel issues related to production staff.

15. Oversee the employee exit process, including conducting exit interviews and handling unemployment compensation inquiries.

16. Assist with all aspects of employee onboarding, benefits administration, and leave of absence programs.

17. Help plan and execute company-sponsored employee events such as retirements, monthly celebrations, and annual gatherings.

18. Prepare and maintain employment records related to hiring, terminations, leaves, transfers, or promotions in HRIS.

19. Collaborate with departments on various projects as needed.

20. Perform administrative tasks within the Human Resources Department.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or a related field.

- A minimum of ten years of progressive HR experience, particularly in a unionized environment.

- Experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.

- Proven ability to leverage business knowledge and personal judgment to align candidates with positions.


- Exceptional collaboration and interpersonal skills, capable of building productive relationships with employees at all organizational levels.


- Basic understanding of personnel policies, employee benefits programs, and legal compliance areas, including labor laws.

- Outstanding listening skills, with a positive, fair, and caring attitude towards others.

- Effective verbal and written communication skills.


- Ability to manage multiple priorities and frequent interruptions while maintaining focus and productivity; capable of meeting time-sensitive deadlines.

- Strong initiative and follow-through.

- Creative and innovative problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work well under pressure and maintain composure during challenging employee situations, making sound decisions.
