About the Position

The Riverside County Department of Waste Resources is seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to lead the Engineering Operations Division. The successful candidate will have a strong background in project management, engineering, and administration, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, and at least four years of professional engineering experience, including two years in a lead, administrative, or supervisory capacity with project management responsibilities. A valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs is also required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the work of professional engineers, technicians, inspectors, and field construction staff. They will also be responsible for preparing and managing project budgets, schedules, and contracts, as well as representing the department before other county departments, cities, and government agencies.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including engineers, technicians, and the public. They will also have a strong understanding of project management principles, including project planning, execution, monitoring, and control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and direct the work of professional engineers, technicians, inspectors, and field construction staff.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, schedules, and contracts.
  • Represent the department before other county departments, cities, and government agencies.
  • Develop and implement project management plans, including project scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor and control project progress, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including engineers, technicians, and the public, to ensure effective communication and project delivery.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least four years of professional engineering experience, including two years in a lead, administrative, or supervisory capacity with project management responsibilities.
  • Valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs.
