Electrical Systems Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Specialist to join our team at the University of Texas at Austin. As an Electrical Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for assisting with severe weather preparations and evacuation, rigging emergency power and emergency generator testing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Installs temporary power for campus special events and contractors
  • Tests electrical equipment for safety and accuracy
  • Performs installation, maintenance, inspections, modifications, and repair of building and equipment, electrical systems and components rated up to 600 volts
  • Plans, lays out, and installs wiring, components, and equipment for new construction and renovations in conformance with design drawings, specifications, and compliance with published codes
  • Responds to service calls; troubleshoots systems, circuits, controls, panels and switchgears, and takes corrective action
  • Traces circuits and tests continuity of electrical and electronic circuits for installed equipment utilizing ammeter, voltmeter, ohmmeter, as-built drawings, and visual inspections

Requirements: Must have experience working with electrical systems and equipment, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Must also be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights.
