Job Summary:
The U.S. Department of the Interior is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to fill the position of Police Officer. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the public while upholding the laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prevent, detect, and investigate criminal activity within parks and designated areas.
- Safeguard parks and designated areas, maintaining a professional presence and conduct.
- Provide assistance and information to the public, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Participate in specialized units, such as the Motorcycle Unit, K-9 Unit, and SWAT, based on competitive selection and training completion.
Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- High School Graduate or GED is mandatory.
- A background investigation will be conducted.
- Ability to work varying shifts and weekends is essential.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Must meet specific vision and fitness standards.
- No felony or domestic violence convictions are allowed.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience, 60 credit hours of higher education, or a combination of both is required.
- Volunteer experience will also be considered.
Evaluation Process:
- The selection process includes a written examination, physical efficiency test, background investigation, and a medical review.
- Meeting the minimum qualifications is the first step towards becoming a Police Officer with the U.S. Department of the Interior.
