Position Overview:

We are currently in search of a Title Attorney to join our dynamic team. This role will collaborate with various departments to support the acquisition and divestiture of assets in a high-energy environment. Ideal candidates will demonstrate exceptional negotiation abilities and possess the capacity to analyze a significant volume of transactions. Proficiency in drafting contracts and effectively communicating obligations to team members is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Examine blanket title and acquisition title, identifying issues that require resolution before closing
  • Draft and/or review proposed drafts for curative documents related to various acquisitions
  • Assist in the preparation and evaluation of deeds, Purchase and Sale Agreements, Letter Agreements, and other necessary documents
  • Utilize title tracking software or other mediums to run and review title
  • Engage with external vendors, brokers, and legal counsel regarding title-related matters
  • Support land administration personnel with correspondence to operators and external parties as needed
  • Collaborate with in-house attorneys on various projects and report to Senior Counsel/VP of Land
Qualifications:

All qualified candidates will be considered for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, national origin, or any other category protected by law.
  • Must be currently licensed and in good standing in Texas, with familiarity or experience in other states regarding oil and gas title (Ohio, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania). Ideally, also licensed in New Mexico, Oklahoma, or Louisiana; if licensed in Oklahoma, New Mexico, or Louisiana, at least two to three years of experience with Texas title is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in oil and gas title review, including but not limited to the review and drafting of blanket title opinions, limited title acquisition opinions, leasehold acquisition opinions, and drafting deeds, agreements, and curative documents.
  • Ability to run and review title across multiple platforms for both operational and acquisition purposes, with a strong understanding of various technological tools.
  • Familiarity with the Texas Railroad Commission site and regulatory framework, as well as unit structures.
  • Capability to calculate complex working interests and/or overriding royalty interests on held-by-production leaseholds.
  • Experience working with various mediums and software for title review.
