Position Overview
As a key member of the anesthesia services team, the Senior Anesthesia Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of anesthesia support activities. This position involves coordinating training and educational initiatives for technicians, as well as managing supplies and equipment essential for anesthesia services.
Key Responsibilities
• Under the guidance of the Medical Director, oversee and facilitate training programs for anesthesia technicians.
• Provide assistance as an Anesthesia Monitoring Technician when required.
Physical Requirements
• Essential activities include standing, sitting, walking, bending, and lifting weights ranging from 20 to 50 pounds.
• Frequent activities involve climbing stairs and repetitive hand motions.
• Occasional activities may include kneeling and squatting.
Work Environment
• The role is typically not exposed to adverse environmental conditions, although there may be exposure to hazardous materials and communicable diseases.
Qualifications
A. Education and Certification:
• Must possess current certification from the American Society of Anesthesia Technicians and Technologists (ASATT).
• A Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related discipline is preferred.
• Current certifications in BLS-HCP and ACLS are required.
B. Experience:
• A minimum of three years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician is necessary.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is expected.
• Familiarity with computerized medical records systems and electronic reporting tools is advantageous.
• Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity is preferred.
